A month-end that starts with checked numbers.
Most of the time lost on client statements is not extraction, it is finding out later that a page was missed or a decimal moved. Every conversion here is reconciled before you see a download button.
Collect the PDFs
Clients send the statements they already download from their bank. Text and scanned PDFs are accepted on every plan, password-protected PDFs from Starter; no online-banking credentials change hands.
Convert as a batch
Upload a quarter or a year at once. Each statement is reconciled on its own: opening + credits − debits must equal closing, and every running balance must follow.
Review only what is flagged
Rows with low OCR confidence or merged descriptions carry a reason. Click one to see the source line on the page, then correct, merge or split it.
Export to the ledger
Download one file per statement or a merged export, in the format your accounting software imports. The Conversion Report records which checks passed.
The file your ledger expects.
These are export formats, not integrations: you import the file through your software's own bank-import wizard. Pick where the data is going and see what to download.
QuickBooks

- Masked account number carried in the file header
- FITID stays stable across re-exports
- Debits negative, credits positive
Software names are used to describe which file formats their import tools accept. Banking Converter is not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them; confirm the accepted formats in your own software's import screen.
A Conversion Report for the workpapers.
Every conversion produces a report alongside the export. It records what was checked and what was flagged, so a reviewer can see why the numbers can be relied on without re-opening the PDF.
- Balance tests
- Opening, closing and running-balance results, plus the printed-totals comparison when the statement prints totals.
- Flagged rows
- Each with its reason and source page.
- Period and duplicates
- Rows outside the statement period, repeated verbatim or duplicated across a page break.
- Metadata
- Bank, period, masked account, page count, confidence score.

Built for a practice, not a single statement.
The converter is the same on every plan. Paid plans add the volume and workflow tools a firm needs at quarter-end.
Batch conversion
Upload a client's whole period at once and download the results as a ZIP.
Starter and aboveMerged exports
Combine several statements into one file for a single import.
Starter and abovePassword-protected PDFs
Open encrypted statements with the client's password; it is held encrypted only while the job runs and never logged.
Starter and aboveStable transaction ids
Re-exporting after an edit keeps the same ids, which helps your import tool recognise duplicates.

Conversions queue ahead of free-plan traffic during busy periods.

Questions from practices
No. Banking Converter produces files (CSV, Excel, QBO, OFX, JSON) that you import through your accounting software's own bank-import screen. There is no live connection to your ledger or to the client's bank.
Each exported transaction carries a stable id that does not change when you re-export after an edit, and QBO and OFX files include it as the FITID most import tools use for de-duplication. See fixing duplicates after import for software-specific steps.
Yes, on Starter and above. Upload the statements as a batch, download a ZIP of the individual exports, or merge them into a single file per account. See merging multiple statements.
Upload the statement anyway. The parser reads the page structure rather than a per-bank template, and the reconciliation checks tell you immediately whether the extraction is complete. The supported banks page states each bank's verification status honestly.
Data processing terms are published on the site. Review them with the privacy policy and the subprocessors list; contact us if your engagement letter requires a signed copy.
The original PDF is deleted 24 hours after processing. Extracted transactions and exports are deleted 7 days after conversion, or 10 minutes after your first download with Purge on download enabled. Delete now removes everything immediately.
